Volunteers

Earlier this month, I agreed to be the interim leader for Spirit Camp 2008. If I only knew how much work it was going to be, I would have rethought my decision... just kidding. It is a great deal of work, but its a worthwhile event. For anyone unfamiliar, Spirit Camp is a church camp that we put on for mid-high youth. This year, we currently have 85 mid-high age kids signed up. Don't you wish you were me?!

In all seriousness, what makes Spirit Camp work is the adult and senior high volunteers. We have some amazing ones involved here! More than Spirit Camp, ministry happens because of the volunteers. So whether you are a part of Mancester UMC or another church, you are needed! You make a difference! And, as a pastor I thank everyone of you who give of yourselves to serve God through the church and its ministries.

Thanks!

Today was quite a day. It began with our Firecracker car show. It turned out well with lots of people in attendance. While that was going on, the set-up for the evening event was already underway. It just so happens that every year, folks gather in the church parking lot to watch fireworks from nearby Manchester park. This year, I proposed turning it into a concert as well. And... success! Beginning just after 7 pm was True North, our youth praise band. They rocked! Then we had a couple of pieces from a brass ensemble. Finally, our adult praise band, One Voice, brought a variety of songs that were great as usual. The music wrapped up around 8:30 pm and then the fireworks were shot off about 9:10 pm. It was a great display.

I just want to say thanks to eveyone who worked so hard to help make this a reality.I couldn't begin to name everyone, but you all know who you are. Its days like this that make me proud to knkow you all and proud to be a part of this church. Just one more thing... we need to do this more often!
