I am writing this from the MO Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. For those unaware, that is a gathering of clergy and church representatives from around the state. It features times of worship and learning. Of course, it also includes the really fun stuff: the business and the reports. To be honest, it has been a really good conference.
Here is the deal, though. Everyone gets all charged up and ready to go take on the world. But, will we all follow through? Its a challenge for everyone of us. Have you ever just felt on fire to do something, but then nothing ever came of it? Church can be like that. We get so inspired by worship on Sunday, but sometimes you wouldn't know it by Friday. this highlights 2 things to me. First, we really need our weekly worship! I think we sometimes forget that. Actually, we probably don't realize it. I could go on. However, the second thing is that, sooner or later, we need to break the cycle of not following through. I mean this in every aspect of our lives. If we feel inspired to do something, then let's do it! We have these fires placed in us for a reason, and its not to idly allow them to die out. I don't know about you, but I intend to follow trough on this passion God has placed in my heart. What is it you ask? You'll find out, soon enough.

You're right, Chris; some of us are "revival junkies" in that we love to get all inspired, but then we don't follow through. Have you ever clicked your mouse on some computer program that you wanted to start, but nothing happened? Frustrating, huh? Maybe that is analagous to God clicking His mouse - the Holy Spirit - on us, but we don't respond. Those moments of inspiration are the Holy Spirit's way of turning us on; if we don't follow through, we are ignoring His call. I pray that I will be more sensitive to the Spirit's nudgings in my life. Thanks for reminding me . . .
